ABOUT US:

Where it seems most riders start at a very early age, June Brody launched into equestrian sports as an adult. She was encouraged by her long time friend and riding instructor to her children, Diane Lehman. And in 1985 June started riding in the Stroudsburg, Pa., area learning the basics of the Hunter World.

In 1991 June met trainer Gigi Hood who encouraged her to get into dressage with her Quarter horse Copper, (now 27) June started showing in dressage competitions and was bitten by the bug. Gigi moved on to Georgia, (now Gig Nutter of Whitesburg, Ga. ) giving June the opportunity to start training with Heather Mason. They have been working together since 1999.

June is not only passionate about riding, but found the horses themselves irresistible too. Into her life came the Elite mare, Dalliance. A proud Hanovarian and mom to Allegiance, her five old gelding now showing training level, as well as the two year old gelding Absolute, who is for sale, and the one month old, filly, Declaration sired by Donnerschlag . Then there is Heatwave, , Liberty and Majic. Heatwave, the Dutch Warmblood mare has had two foals, Nor'ee sired by Heather Mason's FEI Dutch Stallion, Nimbus and Classic, sired by Neostan, also an FEI Dutch Stallion standing at
Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine.

Currently, June campaigns Liberty at Intermediare I and looks forward to moving on to Intermediare II and Grand Prix during the 2008 season. Another huge thrill in dressage is the opportunity to ride the musical freestyle. As a retired entertainment business/music executive, freestyle affords June the opportunity to use her creative talents in the riding arena.

And finally…June’s dream realized…. to open a facility of her own. The combination of her years of experience as a boarder and business woman enabled her to create an atmosphere enjoyable for horses. And for the boarders, who spend many hours a week at the stable, Stone Horse Farm offers just that. June loves the sport, loves the horses and is following her dreams!

Michelle Darling and Troy - Michelle  and her husband, Dan,  currently manage Stone Horse Farm. Michelle competes in dressage and horse trials.

Michelle is also certified in Large Animal Rescue. Certification covers everything from a trailer accident to getting a horse out of a hole.  They were shown how to right a trailer that has flipped on its side, that could have horses on it and rescuing a lost rider and her injured horse in the woods.  There was even a simulation of a water rescue.  They were taught how to handle the horses safely and and how to help distraught horse owners.  It wasn't for just horses it was for all large animals including llamas, cows and even wild animals were mentioned.  We were shown how to use a first aid large animal trailer.  This trailer was designed to take an injured horse to the vet while lying down.  It was nice to see not just horse people in the class, there were rescuers that have never even been close to a horse before.  This class was well worth the time and if it is offered again in the area I recommend you try to go.
